Effects of Barley Grain Particle Size on Ruminal Fermentation and Carcass Characteristics of Male Lambs Fed High Urea Diet

چکیده مقاله:
Two experiments were conducted to evaluate effects of barley grains particle size on ruminal pH and ammonia concentration of rams (experiment 1) and carcass characteristics (experiment 2) of male lambs fed high urea diet. Treatments in two experiments were (1: basal diet + whole barley grains, 2: basal diet + ground barley grains with a 5 mm screen, 3: basal diet + ground barley grains with a 3 mm screen and 4: basal diet + ground barley grains with a 1 mm screen). Basal diet (on a dry matter (DM) basis) consisted of 365 g/kg corn silage, 10 g/kg limestone, 10 g/kg urea, 5 g/kg salt, 10 g/kg a vitamin-mineral premix and 600 g/kg of barley. In experiment 1, three 2-year old rams were fistulated for measuring ruminal pH and ruminal ammonia concentration. Ruminl pH was decreased by feeding ground barley grains through a 1 mm screen compared to feeding the whole barley grains (P

Influence of Processing of Barley Grain on Characteristics of Digestion, Ruminal Fermentation and Digestible Energy of Diet inLactating Cows
A digestion trial using cannulated lactating cows was conducted to evaluate the influence of barley grain processing on characteristics of ruminal fermentation and the site and extent of digestion. The experiment consisted in 4 periods and lasted 84 days. The total mixed rations contained 39.86% of grains and 42.90% of alfalfa hay and the rest of ration was composed mainly by cane molasses, fat...

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of infrared processing of barley for 60, 90, 120 and 150 seconds (s) on protein hydrophobicity, in vitro protein digestibility, degradation characteristics of protein and starch and its feeding effect on ruminal pH of sheep. The surface hydrophobicity of protein increased (P

This study was conducted to assess the effects of feed particle size (FPZ) and crumble size (CZ) of starter diet on growth performance parameters, carcass characteristics, and small intestinal histomorphology in broiler chicks. Three hundred and sixty male Ross 308 chicks were randomly distributed in a completely randomized design with 3 ´ 2 factorial arrangement consist of three screened FPZs ...
متن کاملModeration of ruminal fermentation by ciliated protozoa in cattle fed a high-grain diet.
The objective of this study was to assess the influence of ciliated protozoa on ruminal fermentation in cattle fed high-grain diets. Six ruminally cannulated steers fed a corn-based grain diet (85% concentrate plus 15% alfalfa hay) at 12-h intervals were assigned randomly to two groups, ciliate free and faunated, in a crossover design. Defaunation was by ruminal emptying, omasal flushing, and t...
